Developer Tips & Tricks - Using HTML in a Google Spreadsheet

There's a little known trick that you may find handy when using any of our Gadgets that read data from a Google Spreadsheet. Did you know you can add HTML to a spreadsheet and have it be carried over into the Gadget?

Let's go over an example to illustrate what I mean. Suppose we have a paragraph of text in one of our cells. We'd like to introduce a line break to make the text easier to read. To do this, we can simply add the HTML markup for a line break (i.e. the <br> tag) at the appropriate location:

 

and this line break will show up on the Player:

 

We could even bold some of the text to highlight important information:
